Graham’s Fine Art Gallery will be selling the late mining tycoon’s collection of artworks at an auction early next month. The entire collection comprises of 142 artworks ranging from early realist works to cutting-edge contemporary art. All artworks are of the highest quality and prestige, by artists such as Walter Battiss, Thomas Bowler, Eleanor Esmonde-White, May Hillhouse, Alexis Preller, Irma Stern and Peter Wenning, just to name a few.
Apart from his extensive involvement in the mining industry and South Africa’s business industry as a whole, Brett Kebble was also very passionate about the arts. In 2003 he brought South African Contemporary Art to the forefront by launching one of the most inclusive award ceremonies at the time, the Brett Kebble Art Awards. With these awards he tried to create a platform where renowned and less popular artists could showcase their work. His progressive thinking about arts and culture, along with his generous contributions made Kebble a pioneer in regard to supporting South African arts.
His art collection can be previewed from 16 to 30 April at Graham’s Fine Art Gallery in Fourways, and again from 4 to 6 May at Summer Place before the auction on 7 May. The auction will be held at Summer Place in Sandton.
