People2People international doccie conference begins

People2People international documentary festival will be held at Atlas Studios from 12 to 14 September. This bi-annual conference, which began in 2007, aims to bring people and organizations together to strengthen the role and the scope of documentary film in South Africa. The 2011 line-up will offer master-classes, screening and conversation sessions, panel discussions and debates, networking and social events.

Amongst the guests invited the conference will gather filmmakers, industry specialists from the local industry, the rest of Africa and internationally. Amongst these will be Jean-Marie Barbe, a French independent producer and director of the renowned documentary platform of Lussas in France. He is also the founder of the AFRIDOC project for the development of African documentary cinema. Also at the conference will be Kourtjame Productions, a collective of young filmmakers and artists from France and some Francophone African countries.
